Holy Week of Caltanissetta – Procession of the Gesù Nazareno

2025 Edition

The 2025 Gesù Nazareno procession was held on Sunday, April 13, Palm Sunday, marking the start of the Holy Week of Caltanissetta. As per tradition, in the morning, wildflowers were woven and arranged on the floral boat (the abbarcu) to welcome the statue of the Blessing Christ, surrounded by the ex-voto offerings of the faithful.

In the evening, the parade traveled along the main streets of the historic center, accompanied by marching bands, confreres with bilannuna, and numerous children with palms and olive branches. The procession concluded at the Church of Sant'Agata al Collegio, with the ritual of lifting the abbarcu up the steps and the traditional fireworks, in the Municipality of Caltanissetta, Sicily.
