Edition 2025 — Holy Week in Ruvo
Holy Week 2025 in Ruvo di Puglia
The 2025 edition of the Ruvo Easter rites confirmed the vitality of a centuries-old tradition recognized as an intangible heritage of Italy. With Easter falling on Sunday, April 20, the processions followed one another from Passion Friday to Easter Monday, carrying the simulacra of the Passion through the streets of the historic center, guarded by the confraternities of the Carmine, San Rocco, Purgatorio, and Purificazione-Addolorata.
As per tradition, the Good Friday Procession of the Mysteries represented the most attended moment, with the nine wooden statues carried on the shoulders of the brothers of the Arciconfraternita del Carmine amidst the sound of funeral marches. The Ruvo community renewed the devotional gestures that make the town's Easter unique, from the exhibition of the sacred statues to the display of white sheets along the routes.
