Holy Week 2025 in Catenanuova

In 2025, Easter fell on April 20, and the Holy Week celebrations in Catenanuova (province of Enna) began on Palm Sunday, April 13, with the blessing of palms and olive branches and the evening sacred living representation.

This was followed by the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Maundy Thursday with the washing of the feet, the Via Crucis, and the moving ascent to Calvary on Good Friday. On the night of Holy Saturday, at the stroke of midnight, the taledda, the painted canvas from 1840, was dropped, revealing the Risen Christ amidst the ringing of bells. On Easter evening, the 'Ncuontru' in Piazza Madonna del Rosario concluded the rites with brass band music and firecrackers.
