Holy Week and Easter Rites (U Santissimu Cristu / A Paci Paci)

In 2025, the Holy Week celebrations in Canicattini Bagni confirmed the vitality of a centuries-old tradition. On Good Friday, the Passion liturgy took place at the Mother Church, followed in the evening by the long procession of the Santissimu Cristu through the streets of the historic center, with the participation of the Nuri dressed in white with red cloaks and the chanting of the Lamientu.

The rites of the Iblean town, in the province of Syracuse, were also featured beyond the municipal borders: the tradition of the Lamientu of the SS. Cristu was represented at the second edition of the "Crux Fidelis" gathering in Corleone, confirming the recognition this intangible heritage enjoys. The celebrations concluded, as is tradition, with the joyful Paci Paci procession on Easter Sunday.
