Edition 2025 — Rigattiate of Lucca Sicula
The 2025 edition of the Holy Week in Lucca Sicula followed the traditional calendar, with Easter Sunday celebrated on April 20. From the blessing of the palms to the rites of Holy Thursday and Good Friday, the community accompanied the processions along the streets of the historic center, including that of Our Lady of Sorrows and that of the dead Christ to Calvary.
The culminating moment was, as always, Easter Sunday, with "Lu Ncontru" between the Risen Christ and the Madonna and the traditional rigattiate in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele: the statues of Saint Michael and Saint John made to dance to the rhythm of symphonic marches amidst the cheering of the sammichelari and sangiuvannari. The day closed with the grand firework displays entrusted by the two committees to renowned Sicilian firms, confirming the rigattiate of Lucca Sicula as one of the most spectacular Easter events in the Sicani Mountains of Agrigento.
