Edition 2025 — Holy Week Avola

In 2025, the Holy Week in Avola once again renewed its most beloved rites, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. The Good Friday Holy Thorn procession and the "Paci" rite, the meeting between the Risen Christ and the Madonna in the main square, attracted a large participation of faithful and visitors to the hexagonal historic center of the Syracuse city as every year.

The 2025 edition of the Holy Week in Avola followed the traditional calendar, with Easter celebrated on Sunday, April 20th. From the blessing of the palms on Palm Sunday to the "Sepurcri" on Holy Thursday, and the solemn Holy Thorn procession on Good Friday along the streets of the historic center, the city experienced days of intense devotion.

The highlight was, as always, the "Paci" rite on Easter Sunday: in the main square of Avola, the statues of the Risen Christ and the Madonna met amidst the applause of the crowd, with the flight of doves sealing the resurrection. An event that confirms Avola as one of the reference points for the Easter rites in the province of Syracuse.
