Holy Thorns Festival and Anciuada del Castlan

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Montechiaro Alto celebrated the Holy Thorns Festival and Anciuada del Castlan, organized by the Pro Loco of Montechiaro d'Acqui.

From 10:00 AM, the distribution of anchovy sandwiches began at the Pro Loco headquarters, accompanied by local wines and the music of Zeno Ivaldi. At 11:00 AM, Holy Mass preceded the solemn procession, with twelve men and women in 'Batù' uniforms escorting the Holy Thorns relic of Christ's Crown through the narrow streets of the historic center, evoking the ancient tradition linked to jubilee pilgrimages. Open for the occasion were the Museum of Rural Life, housed in the church of Santa Caterina with rural tools and archaeological finds, the Oratory of Sant'Antonio with its section on the history of the Confraternity, and the local produce market.
