The Three Kings procession on camelback and the living nativity scene in the village of Cori Monte
During the Epiphany, the village of Cori Monte, in the province of Latina, comes alive with one of the most anticipated events of the Christmas season: the Historical Procession of the Three Kings, which accompanies the living nativity scene. The narrow streets and stone alleys of the historic center become the natural backdrop for a re-enactment that blends popular faith, tradition, and spectacle, drawing families and visitors from across the Lepini area.
The most striking moment is the arrival of the three Magi on the backs of real camels. Preceded by a long procession of costumed figures, the kings traverse the village until they reach the Nativity stable, where they offer their gifts. They are welcomed by small presents for all the children present, making the event a celebration dedicated especially to the little ones.
The afternoon is enriched by performances from the groups that animate the event: the Tres Lusores Company, dedicated to Renaissance dance and music, the Fanfara Antiqua instrumental ensemble, and the Musici Viatores. Between period sounds, elaborate costumes, and an atmosphere suspended in time, the living nativity becomes a true animated tableau.
The initiative is organized by the Pro Loco of Cori together with the Tres Lusores cultural association, with the support of the Municipality of Cori and the Lazio Region through LazioCrea. The event has been part of the Cori Christmas calendar for years and represents a symbol of community, capable of uniting the entire town around a message of peace and sharing.
Attending the procession is also the perfect opportunity to discover Cori, an ancient town in the Lepini Mountains known for the Temple of Hercules, its polygonal walls, and its medieval vistas. The setting of the historic center, with its churches and squares, adds charm to a re-enactment that every year brings the holiday season in Lazio to a beautiful close.
The procession departed at 3:00 PM from the historic center of Cori Monte, winding through the village streets to the public gardens of Piazza Signina. The Three Kings, riding real camels, reached the Nativity stable, bringing gifts to all the children present.
In the afternoon, at the living nativity site, performances by the Tres Lusores Company, the Fanfara Antiqua instrumental ensemble, and the Musici Viatores took place. The event, originally scheduled for January 4, was postponed to January 11 due to adverse weather conditions.
Cori is located in the Lepini Mountains, in the province of Latina. By car, it can be reached via the Via Appia (SS7) or the A1 motorway, taking the Valmontone exit and continuing towards Cori. The nearest train stations are Cisterna di Latina or Velletri, with bus connections to the center.
The procession starts from the historic center of Cori Monte and reaches the town's public gardens, where the living nativity stable is set up.
The event takes place outdoors in winter: warm clothing and comfortable footwear are recommended for the village's stone streets. Admission is free and open to the public, suitable for families.
