Historical Palio of the Contrade of Pomarance

In 2025, the Historical Palio of the Contrade of Pomarance followed its two-Sunday ritual. On Sunday, September 7, in Piazza Sant'Anna, the investiture ceremony of the Captains was celebrated with the blessing of the districts and the presentation of the Cencio. On Sunday, September 14, the procession crossed the village starting at 3:30 PM and, at the Piazzone, the four districts (Centro, Gelso, Marzocco, and Paese Novo) performed their theatrical shows, the result of months of work on texts, costumes, and sets. The winning district was proclaimed late in the evening, after dinners in the streets and squares of the village, amidst the food stalls set up for the occasion.
