Edition 2025 — Coumba Freida Saint-Oyen

In 2025, the Historical Carnival of the Coumba Freida once again animated Saint-Oyen as part of the carnival calendar of the Great St Bernard valley. The Landzette, with their colourful and richly decorated costumes, paraded through the village, entering houses, dancing in the streets, and sharing food and drinks with the inhabitants, between daytime processions and a concluding dancing evening.

The 2025 edition of the Saint-Oyen carnival was part of the rich calendar of the historical carnivals of the Coumba Freida, which each year involves several municipalities between Valpelline and the Great St Bernard valley. The Landzette — the colourful masks that tradition links to the passage of Napoleonic troops in 1800 — animated the village according to the usual sequence: gathering of the 'benda' in the morning at the town hall, visits to houses and hamlets, street dances, and in the evening, the masked ball open to all. The event, deeply communal, confirmed the vitality of one of the most characteristic traditions of the Aosta Valley Region.
