Edition 2025 — Coumba Freida Bionaz

In 2025, the Historical Carnival of the Coumba Freida of Bionaz opened the valley's carnival calendar on January 18. The Landzette animated the village with their procession, visiting houses and dancing in the streets, thus starting the Coumba Freida carnival season between Valpelline and Great St Bernard.

The 2025 edition of the Bionaz carnival took place on January 18, confirming the municipality as the first stop on the calendar of the historical carnivals of the Coumba Freida. As is tradition in the valleys of the Great St Bernard and Valpelline, the Landzette — grotesque masks that evoke the passage of Napoleon's troops in the 1800s — paraded through the village, entering houses, dancing in streets and squares, and sharing food and drinks with the inhabitants. The event, free and deeply communal, kicked off a calendar that in the following weeks touched the other municipalities in the valley, from Valpelline to Allein, from Etroubles to Saint-Oyen. An event that renews one of the most characteristic traditions of the Aosta Valley Region each year.
