Edition 2025 — Carnival of Aliano
In 2025, the Historical Carnival of Aliano renewed the tradition of horned masks with parades through the village alleys, shows, popular music, and workshops, confirming itself as one of the most evocative and authentic carnivals in Basilicata, in the badlands village of Carlo Levi.
The 2025 edition of the Historical Carnival of Aliano once again showcased the unsettling horned masks made of clay and papier-mâché, symbols of a centuries-old apotropaic rite. Amidst parades, shows, popular music, and workshops dedicated to mask making, the badlands village reaffirmed its peasant and pastoral identity, in a carnival that blends memory, myth, and popular celebration.
