Edition 2025 — Gustav Mahler Music Weeks
The 2025 Edition
The 2025 edition of the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks was held in Dobbiaco (Upper Puster Valley, Bolzano province) from July 12th to August 5th, 2025. The program brought together great European performers and orchestras alongside youth ensembles, in line with the festival's commitment to showcasing new talent.
Among the most anticipated events, on July 18th, the Jenaer Philharmonie conducted by Simon Gaudenz brought the Ninth Symphony back to Dobbiaco, which Mahler composed right here in 1909. The closing concert on August 5th featured Sir John Eliot Gardiner conducting the Mahler Academy Orchestra in Mahler's Rückert-Lieder and Sibelius's Second Symphony. Other guests included cellist Mario Brunello, baritone Benjamin Appl, and the Junge Philharmonie Wien.
The international symposium of the Gustav Mahler Research Centre was dedicated to humor in the composer's work, with speakers such as Federico Celestini and Morten Solvik, and a lecture by philosopher Massimo Cacciari on Karl Kraus's 'The Last Days of Mankind'.
