Edition 2025 — Barite Mines of Pietraporzio

In 2025, the guided tours of the Barite Mines of Pietraporzio were among the most successful new offerings from the Valle Stura Experience Consortium. Born from the collaboration with the municipal administration, they enriched the valley's tourism offering by showcasing a site of great historical and geological interest. Some excursions were also part of the "Sotto Terres" festival, with meeting points in Pietraporzio at 10:00 AM and accompaniment by GeoGuide Stefano Melchio.

2025 marked the launch of guided tours of the Barite Mines of Pietraporzio, a project promoted by the Valle Stura Experience Consortium in collaboration with the Municipality. The excursions allowed visitors to discover a mining site in the Balaour woods, recently renovated to allow for safe visitation.

Accompanied by GeoGuide Stefano Melchio, participants walked an easy 3.5 km loop trail exploring the geology, history, and local lore of the Stura Valley. The initiative was met with great interest, confirming the potential of mining heritage as a tourism resource for the province of Cuneo and Piedmont.
