GroundUp Music Festival

The first European edition of the GroundUp Music Festival marked the arrival in Alberobello, in the province of Bari, of the festival founded nearly ten years earlier in Miami by Snarky Puppy. From June 26 to 28, 2025, the historic center of the trulli transformed into a widespread stage, with the Main Stage at Villa Comunale Donnaloja, pre-evening concerts at the Trullo Sovrano, and masterclasses held between the Trullo Sovrano and the Centro Culturale La Conceria.

Snarky Puppy, led by Michael League, performed all three nights, each with a different Italian guest: bassist Federico Malaman, pianist Francesca Tandoi, and guitarist Adriano Viterbini. A debut that immediately won over the audience and made Alberobello the European home of the festival.

Other artists of the first edition included: Cécile McLorin Salvant, Bassekou Kouyate & Amy Sacko, Israel Fernandez, Kinga Głyk, Bombino, Becca Stevens, Jake & Abe, Banda Magda, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Fuensanta, Söndörgö, and Carolina Bubbico & Corolla with the participation of Rachele Andrioli.

Concerts at the Main Stage of Villa Comunale Donnaloja and at the Trullo Sovrano, with morning and afternoon masterclasses open to the festival audience.
