Carnival 2025: the 45th edition

In 2025, the Grecìa Salentina and Martignano Carnival celebrated its 45th edition in Martignano, in the province of Lecce, from February 22 to March 7. The event, with free admission, confirmed its dual nature: on one hand, the creativity of the grand parade with its popular and satirical spirit, and on the other, the depth of ancient rituals.

The Grand Parade of allegorical floats and masked groups took place on Sunday, March 2, along the streets of the village, with groups coming from all over the province of Lecce. On Shrove Tuesday, March 4, the closing ritual "La Morte te lu Paulinu Cazzasassi" was held, performed in Griko and Salento dialect, featuring a funeral procession, the reading of the will, and the final burning. The 2025 edition also provided LIS interpretation and accessibility services.
