Edition 2025 — Grauno Carnival

In 2025, the Grauno Carnival once again renewed the ancient pine-burning ritual in the upper Cembra Valley. The Pro Loco of Grauno organized the traditional days of celebration that culminated on Shrove Tuesday, with the dragging of the pine into the square, its christening, the procession, and the evening bonfire around which the community gathered to sing and dance.

Grauno Carnival 2025

The 2025 edition of the Grauno Carnival, in the municipality of Altavalle (Province of Trento), confirmed the vitality of one of the oldest folk traditions in the Alps. During the Carnival days, the Pro Loco enlivened the hamlet's historic center with themed dinners, dance evenings, and convivial lunches, involving both residents and visitors of the upper Cembra Valley.

As per tradition, the central moment was Shrove Tuesday, with the pine-burning ritual: the tree cut in the mountains was dragged into the village, christened by the last groom of the year, and finally lit at nightfall, amidst songs, dances, and the elders' predictions about the coming year.
