Gran Sasso Ultramarathon

The 14th edition of the Gran Sasso Ultramarathon took place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Santo Stefano di Sessanio (AQ), starting at 8:30 AM from the Piazza del Comune with an 8-hour time limit. The race, covering the usual 50 km on road within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, passed through Calascio, Castel del Monte, the Capo la Serra Pass, the Campo Imperatore Plain, and Lake Racollo. The edition recorded over 600 entries, with the presence of top-tier Italian ultramarathon athletes. Organized by the ASD Marathon Club Manoppello Sogeda (president Franco Schiazza), the race was valid for the 2025 IUTA Grand Prix and as a stage of the UISP Regional Championship. Along the route, refreshment stations offered the best local Abruzzese products; prizes were awarded to the top three men and women overall and to category winners, with medals for all finishers.
