Edition 2025 — Gran Sasso Summer
The 2025 edition of the Gran Sasso Summer Festival was held from August 1 to 9 between L'Aquila, Castel del Monte, and Campo Imperatore, with the courtyard of Palazzo Cappa Cappelli as the main venue for screenings in the capital. The festival opened right in Castel del Monte, a village symbolic of transhumance, with a guided walk in the historic center, a shepherd's dinner, and a sunset screening of Fino alle montagne by Sophie Deraspe.
The program alternated between the festival's two distinctive formats — Cartoons on the Mountain and At the Cinema with the CAI — with titles such as The Painting by Jean-François Laguionie, Yaya and Lennie: The Walking Liberty by Alessandro Rak, and Bartali's Bicycle, as well as nature photo-walks in search of the chamois on the Gran Sasso and a historical event at Campo Imperatore on "Operation Oak". In 2025, all events were free with an ethical ticket.
