86th edition: Speed Emile's double

The 2025 edition of the Gran Premio Merano Alto Adige, the 86th in its history, was run on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Maia Bassa Racecourse in the municipality of Merano (South Tyrol). With fourteen starters — the largest field in the last five years — the race saw the triumph of Speed Emile, representing the stable of French trainer Macaire, who managed to secure a double victory following his success the previous year.

Over the 5,000-meter steeplechase, Speed Emile prevailed in a hard-fought finish over Gangster de Coddes, while Grand de Thaix completed the podium after coming up from the back. The day, with the main race at 5:15 PM, drew over ten thousand spectators with packed stands, confirming Merano as the premier event for Italian and European steeplechase racing.
