Good Friday – Sacred Drama (I Parti)

On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, Vittoria celebrated the traditional sacred performance of the Sacred Drama «I Parti» in Piazza Calvario, preserved by the Congregation of the Most Holy Crucifix. Based on the 19th-century text by Marquis Alfonso Ricca, actors and extras re-enacted the final moments of the Passion: the dialogue between the Madonna, the Apostle John, and Mary Magdalene, the soldier Longinus's lance, the deposition of the Crucifix from the cross, and the composition of the Pietà.

The body of Christ, wrapped in a shroud, was placed in the gilded wooden urn from 1834 and carried in procession through the streets of the historic center along with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows. As per centuries-old tradition, the event drew a large crowd of faithful and visitors to Piazza Calvario, confirming «I Parti» as one of the most identity-defining Holy Week rites in the province of Ragusa.
