Good Friday Procession (La Giunta)

Also in 2025, the community of Niscemi experienced Good Friday, on April 18, according to the usual tradition. The sacred representation of the Giunta brought together the statues of Our Lady of Sorrows, Saint John, Veronica, and Jesus carrying the cross in the heart of the historic center, accompanied by the moving chant of the lamentaturi.

After the procession towards the Calvary, at the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, the evening concluded with the procession of the Dead Christ laid in the Urn, accompanied by the funeral marches of the town band. The rite, organized by the Confraternity of the Most Holy Crucifix, confirmed the strong bond between the Niscemi community and this identity-defining heritage of the Sicilian Holy Week.
