Edition 2025 — Dead Christ Procession of Catania
The 2025 edition of the Good Friday Procession was held on April 18th, immersing Catania in the reflective atmosphere of Holy Week. After the Liturgy in the Cathedral, the 19th-century statues of the Dead Christ and the Madonna Addolorata traveled through the streets of the historic center, from the Baroque heart of Via Crociferi until their return to the Cathedral.
In 2025 as well, the Christ was carried on the shoulders by Poste Italiane employees and the Madonna by AMTS workers, while the cloistered Benedictine nuns paid homage to the procession as it passed the Church of San Benedetto. Brotherhoods, candles, and funeral marches accompanied the rite along the streets of the municipality of Catania.
