Good Friday Procession (Dead Christ)

The Good Friday of 2025, celebrated on Friday, April 18, renewed the ancient rite of the Dead Christ Procession in Penne. In the morning, the band played funeral marches that accompanied the entire day, while the confreres, in their traditional robes, transferred Our Lady of Sorrows from the Cathedral to the church of SS. Annunziata. Here, the wooden statue of the Dead Christ was extracted from the glass case and laid on the catafalque covered by the rich Copertone made of gold and silver threads. At 7:00 PM, the solemn procession departed from the church of SS. Annunziata, traveling through the historic center from Colle Sacro to Colle Castello amidst votive candles, with the choir performing the Miserere: a moment of intense participation for the local community and the many visitors who arrived in the province of Pescara.
