Giostra della Quintana of Foligno – The Challenge

The 2025 edition of La Sfida confirmed the charm of Umbria's most important Baroque re-enactment. In the weeks leading up to it, the district taverns of Foligno's ten districts enlivened the historic center with traditional cuisine and the conviviality that precedes the contest.

On the night of the historical pageant, the city streets filled with ladies, nobles, and soldiers in refined 17th-century costumes; the following day, at the Campo de li Giochi, the knights faced each other in the ring joust, a test of skill and speed that awards the first of the two annual palios. The rematch then took place in September.
