Edition 2025 — Archidado

The 2025 edition of the Giostra dell'Archidado concluded on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with the crossbow joust in Piazza Signorelli at 4:00 PM. As is tradition, the five Cortona districts competed for the golden 'verretta' after weeks of costumed processions, medieval markets, and historical re-enactments in the center of Cortona.

The 2025 Giostra dell'Archidado animated Cortona with its usual program of medieval re-enactments. The highlight weekend opened on Saturday, June 7, with the re-enactment of the wedding between Francesco Casali and Antonia Salimbeni at 9:15 PM and the 'Tratta delle verrette' at 10:30 PM. On Sunday, June 8, the morning was dedicated to the 'Provaccia', a trial of crossbows and bolts, while in the afternoon at 4:00 PM, the actual joust took place: two crossbowmen for each district shot in Piazza Signorelli to hit the target and win the golden 'verretta'. In the evening, the medieval costume dinner closed the festival.
