Edition 2025 — Giareda

The 46th edition of the Giareda Festival took place in Reggio Emilia from September 5th to 8th, 2025, under the theme of "topophilia", the affective bond with the territory. For the first time, the festival extended beyond the confines of Corso Garibaldi, involving the entire historic centre with a route through Piazza della Vittoria, Piazza Gioberti, Palazzo Allende, the cloister of the Ghiara, Piazza Roversi, and Largo degli Alpini, featuring a traditional market, cultural events, and religious gatherings at the Basilica della Ghiara.

The 46th edition of the Giareda Festival was held in Reggio Emilia from September 5th to 8th, 2025, choosing "topophilia" as its theme, the deep affective connection and sense of belonging to one's territory.

The big news of the year was the expansion of the festival beyond Corso Garibaldi: for the first time, the market and events involved the entire historic centre, with six main "stations" between Piazza della Vittoria, Piazza Gioberti, Palazzo Allende, the cloister of the Ghiara, Piazza Roversi, and Largo degli Alpini. The inauguration was held on Friday, September 5th, at 4:00 PM in the presence of Mayor Marco Massari and Bishop Giacomo Morandi.

Among the events: cinema and food meetings in the cloister of the Basilica, dialect performances at Palazzo Allende, children's activities with "La Bambineda" in Via Ariosto, a gathering of cloak enthusiasts in Piazza Gioberti, guided tours of lesser-known churches, and on Monday, September 8th, the solemn closing celebration in the Basilica with the Flower Altars.
