Garfagnana Historical Studies Meeting

16th edition - "Governor Fulvio Testi and the Garfagnana of his time"

The edition held on September 7 and 8, 2024, brought together historians and researchers in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana to discuss the figure of Fulvio Testi, a poet and diplomat in the service of the Este family and governor of the Garfagnana. The proceedings were held in the Sala Luigi Suffredini of the Rocca Ariostesca.

The first day, Saturday, opened at 3:00 PM with greetings from the authorities and presentations dedicated to diplomatic activity, the governorship, commissioners, trade relations, and religious issues of the era. On Sunday, work continued from 9:45 AM with presentations on literary friendships, sacred architecture, historical roads, and the arts of the period.

Speakers included Gianvittorio Signorotto, Pietro Luigi Biagioni, Paola Giannasi, Federica Dallasta, Graziella Martinelli Braglia, and other scholars. The conference was dedicated to the memory of Professor Angelo Spaggiari.
