Friseddhre 'ncapunate Festival / Feast of the Madonna of September 8th

2025 Edition - 38th Friseddhre 'ncapunate Festival

From September 7th to 10th, 2025, Magliano celebrated the Feast of the Madonna of September 8th and Saint Vitus the Martyr with the 38th edition of the Friseddhre 'ncapunate Festival.

Sunday, September 7th, after the procession that began following the 7:00 PM mass toward the chapel in the Bosco area, the free distribution of approximately 10,000 wheat and barley frise topped with tomato and oil began at 9:00 PM. The evening featured a concert by the group Kalurya and a comedy show by Umberto Sardella and Luigia Caringella. A prayer vigil was held throughout the night from midnight to 6:00 AM.

Monday, September 8th, the day of the solemnity, included morning masses, Eucharistic adoration, and at 6:00 PM, the procession toward Piazza degli Eroi, with a mass presided over by Archbishop Emeritus Michele Seccia. On the secular side, the evening featured a performance by the Oles symphony orchestra of Lecce and Salento. The festival concluded on September 9th with the blessing of vehicles and a thanksgiving mass with the Te Deum, led by the parish priest Father Rodny Mencomo.
