Francis in the Art of the Madonnari

The project "Francis in the Art of the Madonnari" stems from the bond between Assisi and Curtatone (Mantua), a town famous for its historic National Meeting of Madonnari at the Sanctuary of the Graces, where every year dozens of street artists from around the world compete in the ephemeral art of chalk.

The arrival of this tradition in Assisi, the city of Saint Francis, marks the meeting of two excellences of Italian popular art and is part of the broader program of celebrations for the VIII Centenary of the death of the Poor Man, with the aim of leaving a permanent artwork to the city, born from the hands of the best international madonnari.
