Edition 2025 — Foiano Carnival
The 486th edition of the Foiano della Chiana Carnival was held between February and March 2025, confirming its status as Italy's oldest carnival. The four historic districts—Azzurri, Bombolo, Nottambuli, and Rustici—paraded their papier-mâché allegorical floats through the center of the Arezzo town, amidst masks, music, and thousands of visitors.
The winner of the edition was the Azzurri district with the float "Canto d'Amore", a work of strong artistic impact inspired by the suggestions of Italo Calvino and Giorgio de Chirico, scoring 19 points. In second place was the Bombolo district (15 points), followed by the Nottambuli (13 points) and the Rustici (8 points). The festival concluded, as per tradition, with the burning of King Giocondo.
