Edition 2025 — Focareddha te Sant'Antoni

On January 17, 2025, Taviano renewed the tradition of the Focareddha te Sant'Antoni, with large bonfires lit in the various districts of the town in honor of Saint Anthony Abbot. Around the fire, the community gathered for the evening that in Salento also marks the beginning of the Carnival period, amidst folk music, moments of prayer, and the traditional blessing of the animals.

Focareddha te Sant'Antoni 2025

Also in 2025, on the evening of January 17th, Taviano lit its focare for the feast of Saint Anthony Abbot. According to the ancient Salento custom, the bonfires were organized in different districts of the town, serving as meeting points around which the community gathered to warm up and celebrate together.

The event, which in the town of Taviano also marks the start of the Carnival period, kept alive the bond with the farming culture and the devotion to the saint protector of animals, celebrated throughout the province of Lecce and in Salento with the ritual of fire.
