Edition 2025 — Fisherman's Festival
The 2025 Fisherman's Festival confirmed its appeal, bringing thousands of visitors to the village of Santa Maria la Scala, in Acireale (CT), in late August. During the evenings of the event, the small harbor was filled with food stalls where local swordfish was offered in every form: fresh pasta with swordfish, grilled swordfish steak, skewers, kebabs, and swordfish sausage, in addition to fried seafood. The dishes were prepared by the village women according to traditional recipes.
The festival was part of the festivities for Maria SS. della Scala, the hamlet's patron saint, with live music and entertainment in the square. To facilitate access, a free shuttle service was active from Acireale to the village. Admission to the festival was free, with consumption paid for at the stalls.
