Edition 2025 — Festival of the Twelve Marys
The 2025 edition of the Festival of the Twelve Marys took place during the Venice Carnival, with the selection of the twelve maidens, the water procession on the Grand Canal, costume parades in St. Mark's Square, and the election of the Mary of the Year.
In 2025, the Festival of the Twelve Marys confirmed its role as a key event of the Venice Carnival. The twelve selected young Venetian women paraded in sumptuous historical costumes along the Grand Canal aboard gondolas and then on foot in St. Mark's Square, culminating in the election of the Mary of the Year. As every year, the re-enactment drew attention to one of the most ancient and iconic traditions of the lagoon city.
