Edition 2025 — Crucifix Festival

In 2025, Polizzi Generosa renewed its ancient devotion to the Most Holy Crucifix from May 1st to 4th. The Madonie community gathered around the 17th-century wooden statue kept in the Church of the Carmine, featuring the "scinnuta du Signuri", processions with the "nudi", the "furriata" at dawn, and traditional fireworks, following a rite passed down since 1679.

The 2025 edition

In 2025, the Festival of the Most Holy Crucifix was held in Polizzi Generosa (PA), in the heart of the Madonie, from May 1st to 4th. Organized by the Deputation of the Most Holy Crucifix, the festival featured its secular rites: the "scinnuta du Signuri" with the blessing of the fields, the evening vigil procession, the "furriata du Patri Nuastru" at dawn on May 3rd, and the solemn afternoon procession with the "nudi" devotees dressed in white with red sashes. The evenings were concluded by fireworks displays, while at the end of the festivities, the new depositario was proclaimed, tasked with guarding the tradition for the following year.
