The 2025 edition
In 2025, the Festival of the Most Holy Crucifix once again represented the most heartfelt event in the calendar of Monreale, in the Province of Palermo. In the days leading up to May 3, the historic center hosted brass bands through the town streets, parades of Sicilian carts, musical performances, and entertainment, following a tradition passed down for generations.
The central moment was the solemn procession on May 3, with the venerated statue of the Crucifix carried on the vara through the city streets, accompanied by the faithful with lit candles and blessed flowers. This edition preceded the major celebrations for the 400th anniversary in 2026.
