Festival of the Madonna del Sambuco and Saint Vincent

On April 21 and 22, 2025, Easter Monday and Tuesday, the village of Sambuceto in Bomba, Chieti province, celebrated the Festival of the Madonna del Sambuco and Saint Vincent.

The statue of the Madonna, kept in the Church of Santa Maria del Sambuco, was dressed in its most solemn garments and adorned with votive offerings of popular devotion, before being carried in procession among the faithful. In the small Aia di Sotto square, the ancient palletta game was played, featuring its nine holes and central bushel, a ludic tradition passed down through generations. The festival, free and open to all, renewed the spirit of gathering and hospitality among the residents of Bomba, Sambuceto, and neighboring towns.
