Edition 2025 — Lord of the Elm

In 2025, Mazzarino once again renewed its devotion to the Holy Crucifix of the Elm. Throughout the month of May, devotees reached the sanctuary on pilgrimage, leading up to the second Sunday with the grand procession of the float carried by barefoot 'nuri' and covered in 'sciuri di maju', amidst musical shows, traditional sausage feasts, and fireworks.

The 2025 edition of the Festival of the Holy Crucifix of the Elm confirmed the extraordinary popular participation that has characterized this celebration in Mazzarino, in the province of Caltanissetta, for centuries.

After pilgrimages began on May 1st, the festivities culminated on the second Sunday of the month with the procession of the gilded float, lifted by approximately 120 barefoot men in white robes. Along the streets of the historic center, the faithful tossed sciuri di maju, covering the statue in yellow daisies. The festival was completed with musical performances, the traditional sausage feast, and the inevitable firework displays.
