Festival of the Dove

The 2025 edition of the Festival of the Dove confirmed the centrality of this centuries-old rite in the life of Orvieto. On Pentecost, the mechanical dove descended from the Church of San Francesco to the Cathedral, amidst the golden halo and fireworks that have always accompanied the most anticipated moment of the festival.

The historic center hosted, as usual, the flower arrangements and the market exhibition of Orvieto in Bloom, while in the afternoon, the Palio della Palombella animated Piazza del Popolo with the procession of noble families, the crossbow tournament, and performances by flag-throwers and musicians from the city's districts.
