Edition 2025 — Festival of the Ceri

As every year, the Festa dei Ceri 2025 took place on May 15th in Gubbio, on the eve of the feast of its patron saint, Saint Ubaldo. The city experienced its most anticipated day with the Raising of the Ceri at noon in Piazza Grande and the spectacular evening Race of the three Ceri of Saint Ubaldo, Saint George, and Saint Anthony to the Basilica on Mount Ingino, in a triumph of colors, faith, and adrenaline.

The 2025 edition of the Festa dei Ceri took place as scheduled on May 15th, confirming a ritual that knows no interruption in Gubbio. The day followed the usual ceremonial: the awakening of the city at dawn, the Raising of the Ceri in Piazza Grande at noon, and the evening Race along the streets of the historic center to the Basilica of Saint Ubaldo on Mount Ingino. Thousands of 'ceraioli' dressed in yellow, blue, and black animated the city, accompanied by tens of thousands of visitors. The festival, an intangible heritage recognized by UNESCO and a symbol of the entire Umbria Region, once again reaffirmed its role as an identity event for the Gubbio community.

Programme

Every year, the Festa dei Ceri follows the same unchanged ceremonial: drums and "Campanone" at dawn, Procession of the Saints in the morning, Raising of the Ceri at noon in Piazza Grande, lunch of the 'ceraioli' under the Arches, and the evening Race towards Mount Ingino with arrival at the Basilica of Saint Ubaldo.

Highlights

The Raising of the Ceri in Piazza Grande and the evening Race to the Basilica on Mount Ingino.
