Festival of Saint Michael the Archangel

The 2025 edition of the Festival of Saint Michael the Archangel in Sala Consilina, in the province of Salerno, followed the usual calendar: on May 8th, the procession accompanied the Patron Saint's statue from the Church of the SS. Annunziata to the Sanctuary on Monte Balzata, where the statue remained for the entire summer, while the solemn patronal festivities were held from September 27th to 30th, 2025.

The Jubilee year gave particular significance to the anniversary: Bishop Antonio De Luca designated the Church of the SS. Annunziata and the Sanctuary of Saint Michael as Jubilee sites, allowing the faithful to obtain a plenary indulgence between September 20th and 30th, 2025.

However, the festival was marked by mourning. Following the death of a sixteen-year-old boy, the Municipal Administration, the parish, and the authorities decided to cancel all civil festivities on September 29th and 30th, including the two fireworks displays and the Giusy Ferreri concert scheduled for the 30th, which was postponed to a later date. The religious celebrations were maintained: the 'Barca' procession on the evening of September 28th and, on the morning of the 29th, the descent of the statue from Monte Balzata with the Flight of the Angel in the small square of Sant'Eustacchio.
