Edition 2025 — Historical Carnival of Pignola
In 2025, Pignola celebrated the 623rd edition of the Festival of Saint Anthony Abbot intertwined with the Historical Carnival of Pignola, in mid-January. As tradition dictates, the festival began with the collection of wood by mule, the arrangement of the bonfire pile in the square, and the lighting of the Fanoja, the blessed bonfire in honor of the saint.
In the following days, the devotional parades of adorned animals, the Holy Mass with the blessing of mules, donkeys, and horses, the mule race, and the start of the Historical Carnival led by the mask "Zë Gërard Fottë" and his band took place, amidst music, colors, and traditional flavors.
