Festival of Maria SS. Annunziata

In 2025, the Festival of Maria SS. Annunziata in Acquaviva Platani (province of Caltanissetta) took place according to the traditional calendar, with the main day on the third Sunday of August. The community gathered around the "Madonna di li salinari" amidst the prayer triduum in the Mother Church, dawn cannon fire, and the parade of the band and tammurinari.

The heart of the day was the procession of the fercolo along the "strata de' santi," with the moving farewell of the Madonna in the square to the notes of the Ave Maria. The festival concluded in the evening with shows, music, and fireworks, before the return of the statue to the Cappella della Guardiola, and with the customary tasting of the "piatto del salinaro," the chickpea soup that is a symbol of the village's mining tradition.
