Edition 2025 — Ancient Sounds
A 24th edition in late August
In 2025, the Festival of Ancient Sounds moved its schedule to the final days of August, taking place on the evenings of Friday, August 29, Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31. The presentation was held on August 28 in the cloister of the former Convento dei Celestini, with the participation of the administrations of Novi Velia, Vallo della Lucania, and Cannalonga, the Cilento National Park, the Province of Salerno, and the Campania Region.
The three evenings
The opening on August 29 was marked by a procession in the historic center dedicated to the Madonna del Sacro Monte, followed by concerts in Piazza Longobardi. Saturday, transformed into a white night, featured the Sardinian masks of Boes and Merdules, the presentation of the third edition of the Marcello Colasurdo Award, and a grand finale in Piazza Ferriera. Sunday concluded with bagpipe players and a concert by Eugenio Bennato.
Music, village, and gastronomy
Throughout the event, the stalls set up in the village offered traditional Cilento and Novese dishes, while the public could visit the churches, baronial palaces, and the Norman Tower of the historic center. Admission to all evenings was free.
