Festival des Cabanes at Villa Medici

Fourth edition, June 5 — September 29, 2025

In the summer of 2025, the Festival des Cabanes at Villa Medici in Rome reached its fourth edition with five cabins installed in the grassy plots of the 16th-century garden. The installations were designed and built by international firms and collectives: Associates Architecture, Atelier MARE, Campo & Diploma 20 Architectural Association with artist Roger Ballen, Huttopia, and MBL.

Built from wood, steel, brick, or recycled materials, the cabins engaged with the ancient pines and the laurel, boxwood, holm oak, and myrtle hedges that define the garden's plots. On July 3, 2025, the first edition of Abitare Domani was held in collaboration with BNP Paribas, featuring conferences and workshops that brought together international architects, scientists, and artists around ecological themes. Throughout the season, the Librairie 7L, founded by Karl Lagerfeld, offered a selection of art and humanities books in the gardens dedicated to the relationship between architecture and nature.
