Edition 2025 — Du' Masc' — Castelmezzano
On September 12 and 13, 2025, Castelmezzano celebrated the twenty-fifth edition of the Festa du' Masc'. The arboreal rite re-enacted the symbolic wedding between the holm oak trunk, the groom called "Maggio", and the holly top, the bride: from the felling and transport by oxen from the Gallipoli Cognato Park to the raising of the tree in the square and the greased pole climb.
The event, accompanied by folk music, dances, and food stalls, confirmed its role as one of the most fascinating arboreal rites in Basilicata, capable of uniting the Park's communities in the evocative setting of the Lucanian Dolomites.
