Edition 2025 — Madonna del Pollino (Salita)
In 2025, the ascent of the Madonna del Pollino once again brought together the faithful of San Severino Lucano and the Frido valley in the pilgrimage towards the sanctuary on Monte Pollino, amidst bagpipes, 'cinte', and tarantellas, following a tradition that is part of Italy's intangible heritage.
The 2025 edition of the ascent confirmed the intensity of this age-old rite. After the dawn mass, the statue of the Madonna del Pollino began its procession from the Mother Church of San Severino Lucano to reach the sanctuary at 1537 metres, accompanied by bagpipers and the devotional tarantella. Women carried the votive 'cinte', and pilgrims stopped at the 'pisuoli' along the 18 kilometres of the route, in an event deeply felt by the entire Pollino community.
