Festa dell'Emigrante di Nembro

The 2025 edition, the 30th, of the Festa dell'Emigrante was held on August 7, on the eve of the anniversary of the Marcinelle tragedy, 69 years after the fire on August 8, 1956, which claimed the lives of 262 miners, 136 of whom were Italian. Organized by the Associazione Nembresi nel Mondo with the Municipality of Nembro and the Migrants' Office of the Diocese of Bergamo, the festival's central moment was the inauguration of the "Baracca del Minatore", a faithful reconstruction of the lodging where Italian miners lived upon their arrival in Belgium, designed to convey to new generations the living conditions and sacrifice of emigrants.
