Edition 2025 — Ferie delle Messi

The 2025 edition of the Ferie delle Messi took place from Friday, June 13 to Sunday, June 15 in San Gimignano. Three days of medieval re-enactment with historical processions, martial games, falconry, dances, and ancient crafts, culminating on Sunday with the Purification Rite, the Corteo delle Messi, and the competitions between the four Contrade: Castello, Piazza, San Giovanni, and San Matteo.

The 2025 edition opened on Friday, June 13 with the inauguration of the Taverna dei Cavalieri at the Rocca di Montestaffoli, open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM with dishes inspired by the Middle Ages. Over the weekend, the historic center of San Gimignano hosted encampments, falconry displays, martial games, dances, and traveling performances by jesters and musicians.

The highlight was Sunday, June 15, with the presentation of the 2025 Palio and the new Contrade costumes, the solemn Purification Rite in Piazza del Duomo (12:15 PM) with the triumphal entry of the knights, and in the afternoon the long-awaited Corteo delle Messi with flag-wavers, followed by the competitions and the awards ceremony for the four Contrade.
