Edition 2025 — Feast of the Vow
The 2025 edition of the Feast of the Vow of Saint Clare confirmed the centuries-old rite that binds Assisi to its saint. At dawn, the sound of clarions and bells recalled the liberation of the city from the Saracen assault of 1241, attributed to the intercession of Saint Clare.
In the evening, the civil and religious procession crossed the historic center, starting from the Cathedral of San Rufino and passing by the Basilica of Saint Clare and the Sanctuary of San Damiano. In Piazza del Comune, the mayor read the historical ordinance and renewed the vow of 1644, in the presence of the bishop, the Poor Clares, and the Friars Minor, in a gesture that reaffirms the identity of the city of Clare and Francis each year.
